ZAGAT'S SURVEY - The Mexican courtyards, bubbling fountains and ancient stand of sycamores provide an elegant and unique backdrop for a wonderful, reliable Classic French menu with Southwestern touches; the formal setting indoors is balanced by lovely outdoor dining and the gracious service is for all; stargazer alert - celebrities fill up this place.

FROMMER'S TRAVEL GUIDES - Located in Tlaquepaque, the city's upscale south-of-the-border theme shopping center, René is an elegant and traditional dining experience. This is a place for a special lunch or dinner in a refined atmosphere with lace curtains and paintings by Southwestern artists.

FODOR'S - Ease into the plush banquettes of this pretty lace-curtained restaurant for classic Continental dishes. Rack of lamb is the house specialty, but the tender antelope in juniper sauce is a worthy competitor. Service is formal, as befits the room and menu, but you won't feel uncomfortable if you come in your shopping duds.
